The main picture shows the protagonist, Justine, like the painting of Ophelia from Hamlet by Shakespeare. Ophelia was the character who is known that suffers from depression and, other character, Gertrude says that Ophelia appeared “incapable of her own distress”. Gertrude’s announcement of Ophelia’s death has been praised as one of the most poetic death announcements in literature.

The movie show us an euphemism of depression or melancholy as a planet that will hit the Earth and destroy all the humankind. The apocalyptic planet is one of the allegory but the popular one is the “black dog”. “The sickness of XXI century”, some says. We can see it, we have information about it, some people think its real, some not.

We can see through the film that Justine embrace the depression and maintain herself stoic, even when the destruction is imminent, thatś what depressive people do. Justine, a person with major depression, helps Claire to embrace the destruction and accept the mortality of everyone.
